Basil Black Voices - Concert in Bolzano

MY SWEET JESUS \u200b\u200b

On December 17, 2008 at 20:30, the Cathedral of Bolzano was full to capacity, people in every order of seats, the aisles filled almost under the altar. The speaker introducing the group kindly ask that you leave at least a security corridor in the nave. But who drew people from every corner of the region, much to do escalamare the leader of the group "... and is the first time that we sing in a church so crowded ..."? Them " BLACK VOICES " a terrific a cappella quintet, voice, tone, rhythm, all female. A sound for gospel with one foot firmly in the past and another in the present, as when Carol Pemberton, the soul and leader as well as strict and rigorous performer, he recalled in a poignant song, the innocent people involved in today's wars ... from 'Iraq to' Afghanistan, the Congo to 'Uganda to Zimbabwe ...".
met for the first time, the Black Voices April 26th 1999, during the Festival of Sacred Music, the organizers sought then pull the conflicting interpretations between the SAT Choir and Black Voices, between the masculine and feminine. I Concerts are held in the church of the Minor Seminary at Trento and later in the Cathedral of Merano. A comparison of the musicality of Christmas songs typically Trentino, as Nenia of the Child Jesus and the Three Kings from the East and the neo-gospel group in Birmingham in 1989. If at the professional performance of the distances were a requirement, almost a reciprocal study, to compete for an audience of connoisseurs, loose initial doubts, in the post-concert group of girls turned out to be "human" and convivial. We had the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on popular songs, but mostly I have noticed how the song and the emotions it creates in executions in the group, to really go beyond albeit cultured conversation. I remember in particular how the after dinner on the occasion of the farewell out of the "Restaurant Pedavena" in Trento, has been particularly strong and our voices come together in our own melodies of Christmas carols and spirituals like 'Amazing Grace', until the triumph of a 'Kum ba yah' very touching.

But back to the concert, the initial deployment into the picture in the Cathedral of Bolzano, who started with a thin small voice, a bit dumb, as if to breathe the vibrations from the solid stone of the cathedral, leaving no understanding of what was the wellspring of harmony. Performed in sequence:

- GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS
- GO WHERE I SEND YOU
- SOON I WILL BE DONE
- WATH IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING?
- THE LORD'S PRAYER
- THERE IS A BALM IN GILEAD
- THE DELIVERER WILL COME
- WHO's GONNA HEAL MY BROKEN SPIRIT?
- GOTTA DO RIGHT
- THE REASON I CRY!
- OLD TESTAMENT SPIRITUAL: GATHER ROUND
- MY SWEET JESUS
- WHERE ARE THE KEYS?
- AMEN

L'emozione che mi ha lasciato, come una foto, รจ quella di un quintetto d'archi. Due violini, viola, violoncello ed un sapiente contrabbasso. Brave.
